The Valley Electrical Titan Racing Team talking about Project Cypher

The Valley Electrical Titan Racing Team was formed in January this year, consisting of four members; Rossouw Bekker, Marc Fourie, Tiffany Keep and Jamie Penfold. Being a multi-disciplinary team they have been actively present across stage racing, XC, marathon and road events this year

During the team’s camp held late in June this year the team had the opportunity to share some of the experiences about the new Titan Racing Cypher. After competing on it for a few months they were really able to get a feel for riding it in different conditions and share their views on it.

The purpose of the team was gain exposure for their two title sponsors; Valley Electrical and Titan Racing whilst competing nationally and abroad. Valley Electrical, an electrical contractor company based in the Western Cape, has been backing the team financial this past year. Titan Racing have provided product support for the team, which brings us to the second purpose of the team; Project Cypher.

In addition to competing on the road on Titan Racing’s new Valerian road race bike they were lucky enough to ride early prototypes of the new Titan Racing Cypher RS – a full carbon full suspension 100mm race bike designed in-house by the team at Titan Racing. Forming part of the development phase of the Cypher to feed real world feedback to the team at Titan Racing Bikes, the Valley Electrical Titan Racing formed an integral part of the development of the new Titan Racing Cypher.

Having the ability to do 6 month’s real world testing on different formats with the team has given Titan Racing the ability to truly put their product to the test before releasing it to the market. Between the four Valley Electrical Titan Racing Team riders they have racked up more than 35000km’s and over 2000 hours collectively.

Team founder and manager, Rossouw Bekker, has been working with Titan Racing for quite some time prior to the inception of the team. At only 20 years of age he has taken on the responsibility of not only riding in the team but also managing it and securing the sponsorships for each season.

“Being a part of a team has always been a dream of mine which later turned into a dream of me wanting to start my own team. South Africa has a lot of young talent who just need a platform that offers them the opportunity to grow, myself included. Forming the Valley Electrical Titan Racing Team is just that. Partnering with Titan Racing who share the same values as us made sense as a long term partner. Being a part of the development of the Cypher has personally shown me what goes into making a bike. It’s a long process, but being able give feedback from a racing point of view makes me feel as if I’ve had a say in the final production bike which myself and my team are proud to ride. It’s a fast race bike with progressive geometry that enables you to take on the most challenging courses with confidence.”
