“The minute you throw your leg over the Titan 29er Elite, you get the feeling this is a capable package that simply wants you to go out and ride.”
– Bicycling Magazine, April 2016

So if you’ve picked up a copy of the latest Bicycling Magazine, you’ll know the Titan 29ER Elite won the 2016 Bang For Your Buck Mountain-Bike shootout, which featured 5 “Race-Ready” Mountain Bikes under 16K. Whilst the competition was tough, the Titan proved itself to be the most capable and the best investment in the long run.

We believe in building real bikes, for real riders. The rigours of racing and genuine mountain bike riding take their toll on a bicycle and their components. It’s best to purchase the bike intended for your needs the first time round. Welcome to a class of bikes that are light, agile, and tough enough to withstand just about any ride. Even an endurance or stage race.

Here’s how we designed the perfect budget racer:

The frame – Through extended testing we developed a frame that is lightweight and durable but most importantly performs well. By extending the top tube design it results in a bike that is superior in balance and offers a confidence inspiring ride. The geometery and rear chain stay design let you put down the power on the straights but keep the rear end fast and snappy in the technical stuff. Smooth joints and a sleek set of graphics complete the package.

“After only a few minutes on the 29ER Elite, I felt right at home, with the relatively long top-tube (657.7mm, on the large) giving me enough room to find the ideal riding position. As a result… I may or may not have been heard howling ‘I’m loving this Titan already!’ as I negotiated a few berms on the Meerendal singletracks…”
– Mike Finch, Bicycling Editor

Groupset – It’s no secret that the drivetrain is usually one of the first upgrades when you enter the racing scene and it’s a costly one. So we’ve done it for you. Hence, the full Shimano SLX drivetrain, this is a performance set; lightweight, durable, 2×10 gearing. A Shimano hydraulic brakeset needs no introduction and if you chat to anyone in the racing scene they will tell you just how reliable these brakes are. This groupset features the same technology as the higher up models and delivers definite shifts in racing conditions.

“Thank’s to a full Shimano SLX drivetrain, the 29ER Elite’s transmission felt smoother and crisper, compared to the other bikes.”
– Jonathan Ancer, Bicycling Deputy Editor

Suspension – Choosing a suspension fork that could perform at the top of its class left us only one option. We chose the likes of Rock Shox as they known for their impeccable reliability and durability. The XC 30 is lightweight and packed full of legendary RockShox technology. Race-proven plushness and ease of setup means more time on the trail and less time tinkering.

Wheelset – Strong rims let you hit any line in training and stay true until race day. The choice of tyre had to be performance driven and race inspired to reduce rolling resistance and hold its line in the quick corners. The Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.25 offers superior grip, control and the increased volume helps with cushioning. These are the same tyres our Titan Team Riders and Ambassadors compete on, they have definitely proven their spot on this bike.

“From the geometry of the frame to the shifting performance, the 29ER Elite feels like it’s ready to race.”
– Oliver Munnik, Bicycling Gear Editor

We knew the demand for a tough racing bike, a bike that would be as suitable to a beginner rider as it is to a seasoned racing snake. The combination of a lightweight frame, quality groupset that delivers long lasting performance, matched with a plush air fork on grippy tyres is a winning combo.
